Your daily habits manifest your future for better or worse. The good thing is your habits aren’t permanent.
From what you think, to what you do and say on a daily basis directly influences your state of wellbeing, and whether many of us are aware of it or not there may be habits that could cease you to become the best version of yourself.
Letting Ego Run Your Life
Think about the things you would like to try out or do, but wouldn’t bother doing it because you’re worried what others may think (I’m sure you see where I am going with this).
Now first, you must realize how this protected self-image you have is holding you back from living and doing what you want. In reality, you want to grow and experience something new but instead, you are being held back by the false vision of self.
So put ego aside once in a while and start pursuing what you want with no expectation or opinions from others in the mix.
You are a product of who you hang around with so if you are around toxic people all the time you may find yourself thinking more negatively and feel at a lower state of being.
Whether it is your friends or family, limit or cut all interactions with them. Being around individuals who have a habit of complaining, gossiping, or being extremely judgemental will only bring you down and halt your growth in the process.
Not Creating Time to Unwind
Spending time with yourself has proven to be beneficial in your state of being. I have made the mistake of doing work, doing this and doing that, that I forget to do nothing once in a while.
Having your mind and feelings all over the place and unaligned is uncomfortable and most importantly unhealthy. Taking the time to just sit and reflect on what your feelings are telling you can help clear things up and become more grounded in your thinking.
Not Making Sleep a Priority
Many people I know have a habit of staying up past 1 a.m. and yet have to wake up 5 hours later to go to school or work! I for one enjoy sleep and rest right after a long day of work. Lack of sleep leads to mood swings, and lack of ability to concentrate on certain tasks.
According to the National Health Services U.K., “lack of sleep can be detrimental for both your physical and mental health,” and, “are associated with repeated negative thoughts.” So now imagine sleeping five hours every night and waking up with a mind swimming in a pool of negative thoughts all throughout the day.
It is recommended to get at least an optimal seven to eight hours of quality sleep to improve your mood and wellbeing.
Being in the Present
I overthink, A LOT. I play out future scenarios in my head of “ifs” and “then’s” to visualize how something would play out in the long run, which normally ends with unnecessary worry and mental drain.

To grow as an individual, learn to be mindfully in the moment. It would steer you away from being regretful of the past or get anxiety for the future. You will find there is more enjoyment being present with your thoughts, feelings, tasks, and those around you.
